The brief
A mobile cooking game needed a character that felt alive and responded to how the player was doing - not a static mascot, but a reactive presence that made wins feel rewarding and losses feel playful.
The process
The chef was rigged entirely in Rive with a State Machine wired to the player's score, driving multiple expressive poses and mouth shapes.
UI feedback, celebratory reactions and failure states were integrated so the character's mood always matched the gameplay moment.
Designs were aligned with the game's UI in Figma before being brought to life in Rive for a clean handoff to the product team.
The outcome
A single, lightweight Rive asset that gives the game an expressive, score-aware character - ready to drop into the runtime without heavy engineering.
